Christmas for Kids

On December 3rd, Santa made his annual trip to the Eastside Marketplace.  The day started off with the movie, Smurfs, provided by Village Centre Cinemas, food catered by La Madrid, and of course pictures with Santa provided by First Step Internet.

ARRA UPDATE

First Step has been busy these past few months continuing to build out the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Grant.  Although this time of year poses some challenges due to weather, our wireless technicians have been diligent in building nine out of ten new towers.  Construction is approximately 57% completed. All new microwave paths should be completed by late August 2012.

FSR Works with IEN to Connect St. Maries High School
First Step Internet joined Governor Butch Otter, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna, and Communications Director of Idaho Education Network (IEN), District Superintendent Joseph Kren, and school Principal John Cordell at St. Maries High School to mark the completion of Phase One of the Idaho Education Network.

The goal of the IEN project is to network all school districts in Idaho together using a dedicated private network.  There are now 210 "IEN" rooms in communities throughout Idaho, 194 of them in schools.  Each room is equipped with cameras, audio gear, and projectors that allows for two-way seamless interaction between instructors, students, and schools.

First Step Internet was awarded the contract to connect St. Maries High School to the IEN point-of-presence in Lewiston, utilizing existing FSI high-capacity MPLS infrastructure for much of the path, along with two newly constructed licensed microwave repeater sites. St. Maries High School is one of only a handful of IEN schools utilizing advanced microwave technology to overcome the deployment limitations of fiber, along with the capacity limitations of conventional telecom circuitry.

As part of the design we added the content management system to allow Cindy Blackman Santana management to easily make changes to the content on their website.
AVOID E-MAIL DEBACLES
E-mail can be a great way to communicate, if you use it properly. Unfortunately, it’s often used foolishly instead of fostering proper communication. You can write one and send it off almost as quickly as firing a gun, making e-mail potentially dangerous if not lethal. So what is the answer? Government-issued permits? Court-mandated e-mail classes? Relax, you don’t have to vote the Libertarian ticket to preserve your rights. Just practice responsible e-mail use and avoid the misunderstandings that take place when poorly chosen words get taken the wrong way...
